The Works

 OLIVEIRA, Vidal de. A armada de Cabral e a descoberta     do Brasil. Rio de Janeiro: Typ e Lith. de Olympio de     Campos & C., 1900.

Carlos Vidal de Oliveira Freitas was Lieutenant of the Navy, Director of the Library of the Navy and Knight of the Order of St. Benedict of Aviz. A scholar of Naval History, in collaboration with Admiral Artur Silveira da Mota, Baron of Jaceguai, he wrote the essay"Quatro séculos de atividade marítima", which was originally intended for the Book on the Centenary of the Discovery of Brazil but remained unpublished, according to José Honório Rodrigues, for having exceeded the length specified for inclusion in that collection.  

The book A armada de Cabral e a descoberta do Brasil, published in 1900, contains interesting information about the expedition of 1500.
