Os Estudos sobre a Bahia Cabralia e Vera-Cruz, by Salvador Pires de Carvalho Aragão, was published under the sponsorship of the government of the State of Bahia in the last year of the 19th century. The book aimed at contributing to clearing up some of the "controversial points" of the Discovery of Brazil, especially those related to the location where the members of Cabral's expedition landed - the "safe port" mentioned by Pero Vaz de Caminha in his Letter.   The work contains a map of Cabrália bay and various plants.
