This Collecção de Notícias para a Historia e Geografia das Nações Ultramarinas, que vivem nos domínios portuguezes, ou lhes são visinhas was published by the Royal Academy of Science in 1812, an occasion on which the Prince-Regent Dom João, the Royal Family and the Portuguese Court, finding themselves in Rio de Janeiro, proceeded with the project of founding a Luso-Brazilian Empire. 

These three tomes gather together dissertations, memoirs and writings on the voyages, discoveries and conquests of the Portuguese.
